The woes of supporting Spurs

September 28th 2008

I have been a life-long Tottenham fan and thankfully I have learned by now not to expect too much from them. No matter who our manager is or how much money we spend we are still the same old Tottenham. No wins, four losses and two draws is our worst start to a season for over 50 years but as any Tottenham fan knows; this is what you expect from us! Whereas Newcastle fans kick up a huge fuss, we just sit back and say “it’s going to be one of those seasons”.

As long as we don’t get relegated I’ll be happy. Fourth from bottom here we come!!

The best tennis match I have ever seen

September 7th 2008

US Open 2008 Semi-Final
Andy Murray vs Rafael Nadal
6-2 7-6 4-6 6-4

I have seen a lot of matches. I have seen some amazing rallies and some phenomenal points. I have never before seen a match that had as many amazing rallies and phenomenal points as the one I have just finished watching. Andy Murray played the best game of I have ever seen!

Andy Murray hit back shots that he had no right to get to. The shots from Nadal would have beaten most others players but Murray kept hitting them back again and again and again until he won the point. Relentless and skillful. Nadal didn’t know what hit him!

I’m not just saying this as a Brit. I’m saying this as a fan and this match will forever rest in my memory. I don’t care if Andy Murray doesn’t win the final against Federer tomorrow. I will be happy to have been able to watch that game. Brilliant. He deserves his world no.4 ranking!

Setanta Sucks

August 12th 2008

Back in the good old days you used to be able to subscribe to Sky Sports and Premiership Plus (only an extra £50) and get all the live premiership and Champions League games live on your . Now however I have to miss lots of live games because of silly Setanta Sports who want to charge me £13 a month which very quickly adds up to over twice as much as Sky were charging.

I do watch a fair bit of live but not every game. But it tends to be that the game I want to watch is always on Setanta Sports (How many people were annoyed on Sunday because the Community Shield wasn’t on normal Sky?)

I have to try and look at the bright side though. It will save me £50 which will help a lot with all the price rises going on and it will give me more time to do more important stuff than watching .

Roll on the start of the season though. Come on Spurs!!

Cricket – it’s a wonderful game!

July 31st 2008

Okay, so it already looks like we are going to lose again after going out for a measly 231 in the first innings but I love it. is one of those sports that can tick away quietly in the background while you are working or busy doing something else.

For those of you stuck at work, and who don’t work for a company that let you have a plasma screen in your office, you’ll have to make do with reading about the online. I have tried out a few alternatives and without a doubt CricInfo.com are the best. It auto-refreshes, has great commentary and even a nifty little 3D recreation of each bowl in case you are that interested. The best bit though is they display the score in the title bar of your browser which means you can keep an eye on it without needing to flick back all the time. Perfect!
