This week I managed to catch up with the “found footage” sleeper hit Chronicle, the “does what it says on the box” Man on a Ledge and see Daniel Radcliffe’s first post-Potter chiller The Woman in Black. Here are my views on all three.

Cinema Review – Underworld: Awakening and the Barrier of 3D

One of my most anticipated films of the year was Underworld: Awakening (admittedly a guilty pleasure) and so it was with great trepidation that I sat to watch a film that what was almost certainly going to disappoint. However, the reason I came away feeling like it was a poor film had very little to do with the rehashed story or mediocre action, it was being forced to endure 3D.

Cinema review–Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol

When I left the cinema having watched the fourth instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise I’m glad nobody asked me what I thought because I honestly couldn’t say. I felt like I hadn’t enjoyed it even though I clearly remember thinking it was excellent. It dawned on me a few days later what had happened. The film was like a bell curve; it started well and the central set-piece in Dubai was as amazing as people had said it was. However, as the film neared its conclusion is totally ran out of steam and by the end I had forgotten how good the first 90 minutes were and was left disappointed by the lame last 30.
