This week I saw the surprise Oscar best picture nominee Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close and the latest from one time Oscar winning Director John Madden, The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. One starred a 12 year old newcomer, the other starred seven over 60 year old acting greats.

Top 5… Oscar years
Last night was the 84th Oscar ceremony and I wondered what Oscar themed top 5 I could do to celebrate. Well I thought I’d go for the big one and pick my top 5 Oscar years. To keep this feasible I only those that won and not those that were nominated and I focused more on the main awards (best picture, actor, actress, screenplay and director).

Cinema Review – Underworld: Awakening and the Barrier of 3D
One of my most anticipated films of the year was Underworld: Awakening (admittedly a guilty pleasure) and so it was with great trepidation that I sat to watch a film that what was almost certainly going to disappoint. However, the reason I came away feeling like it was a poor film had very little to do with the rehashed story or mediocre action, it was being forced to endure 3D.
